“Iron Man 3” starring Robert Downey Jr. will begins shooting next summer in the Wilmington area, according to reports Thursday.

The Detroit Free Press and the Latino Review reported that North Carolina beat out Michigan for the high profile project.

Marvel decided to film in North Carolina after the state offered $20 million in tax incentives, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Michigan reportedly offered $13 million in incentives, then raised the bid to $20 million pending legislative approval. Marvel didn’t want to wait for approval so they decided to shoot in Wilmington.

Production is expected to begin in June.
