Officials in Trinidad and Tobago are in hot water after reports surfaced that they spent over $800,000 on a concert featuring Nicki Minaj.

The concert, which was featured on her “My Time Now” MTV documentary, was part of the country’s “Localise It” fest a fashion show and live performances.

The rapper, who is of Trinidadian descent, was paid a large portion of the $825,000 spent— $382,000, $60,000 of which was spent on hotel expenses.

Additionally $15,000 was spent for the concert’s advertising, $75,000 was spent or the venue, $60,000 was spent for the fashion show, $40,000 was spent for the local acts, $32,000 went to the Copyright Organization of Trinidad and Tobago and $26,000 was paid to cultural acts.

Diego Martin Central MP Dr Amery Browne has called for an audit into the show.

The organizer of the event, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Roberts has since spoken out against Brown and asked him to “focus on the facts and stop trying to play games.”

He also adds,

“The key issue is he had the contract with Nicki Minaj—a Trinbagonian superstar—the number one Trinbagonian out there worldwide. He had the paper.”
