February 26th – Toronto MC K’naan releases his sophomore album “Troubadour” on A&M Records on this day in 2009.

“Troubadour” spawned the hit singles “I Come Prepared” (Featuring Damian Marley), “ABC’s” (Featuring Chubb Rock) and “If Rap Gets Jealous” (Featuring Kirk Hammett of Metallica).

Other guests on the Somalian born rapper’s second set included Mos Def, Charli 2Na of Jurassic 5 and Adam Levine of Maroon 5.

“Troubadour” also included the single “Wavin’ Flag” which was chosen by Coca-Cola as the Official 2010 theme for the FIFA World Cup of Soccer in South Africa.

That same year, “Wavin Flag” was also used by Young Artists For Haiti as a single to benefit victims of the island nation ravaged by a January 12th earthquake that same year. The song was remade featuring a Canadian musical star-studded line-up that included Drake, Nelly Furtado, Jully Black, Kardinal Offishall, Avril Lavigne, Justin Beiber and K-naan himself.
