A shooting at a Franklin Street business caused The University of North Carolina to be placed under a security alert earlier today.
Sources say that a man hit two females and fired a gun at a business in the 100 block of East Franklin St. Officials say that no one was injured by the gunfire.
A message on the school’s website stated that the alert “does not reflect an immediate threat to health or safety but may indicate a continuing danger to the campus or the community.”
The suspect in the incident has been described as a black male wearing a white coat with brown trim. He has not been captured and details are still emerging in this case.
