Background Checks For Benefits

A new bill has cleared the House Health and Human Services Committee today (Tuesday) which will require county Departments of Social Services to do criminal background checks on people applying for federal benefits. This would mean that anyone applying for food stamps, who has an outstanding warrant, would be reported to local law enforcement.
