Who is doing the background checks on these principles and teachers now. it seem like every time you turn around a child is being violated by someone who has been put in a position to help them. David Ellis Edwards, a 49-year-old former North Carolina principle is being accused of sexually assaulting a student in his office while the boy’s unsuspecting parent was outside. According to WRAL.COM Edwards was charged with two counts each of second-degree forcible sex offense and sexual acts with a student and five counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor. The 3 victims are young boys ranging from age 11 to 14.Edwards resigned from his position at Douglas Byrd Middle School on August 6th , where he was the principle at since 2010.Previous to that he was principal at Ramsey Street Alternative Middle School. Authorities believe there are more victims and the case remain open. Anyone who might have been victimized is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500.
