Baltimore Ravens star, Ray Lewis, is a beloved figure in the city of Baltimore. Nationally his image may be seen as controversial but in Baltimore, the former linebacker is nothing less than a leader.

On Tuesday morning, Lewis took to social media to speak out his message of peace to the young rioters of his city. He uploaded several videos Twitter and Facebook, giving his opinion on the damaging effects these violent protests will have on the city long term.

One of Lewis’ many posts read: “#Violence is not the answer. We must have #peace in our #city, we are a city that’s built on #Believing in each other. #BaltimoreRiots”

The city of Baltimore is attempting to recover from Monday night’s rioting following the funeral of 25-year-old Freddie Gray. Gray died as a result of a spinal injury while in police custody.
