Kim Kardashian stepped on the Met Gala red carpet Monday night in a breathtaking all-white gown. The designer dress was an original piece designed by Peter Dundas at his new post at Roberto Cavalli.

Speaking of “flawless” people couldn’t help but notice that Kim’s dress appeared vaguely similar to the Givenchy dress worn by Beyoncé to the 2012 Met Gala.

Fans discussed their opinions on social media and uploaded photos to compare looks. The reality television starlet’s attire also resembled Beyoncé’s 2014 Emmy’s ensemble.

Despite the backlash, Kim took to Instagram to set the record straight. Kim, 34, assured fans that, contrary to popular belief, it was Cher who inspired her stunning Met Ball fashion threads.

“Tonight’s inspiration! Cher at the 1st ever Met Gala! I just met her and told her this photo was my inspiration for my dress tonight! She is so beautiful! So happy I met her!” Kim captioned a photo of Cher during the 1974 Met Ball.

She also upload a second image of her standing with Cher at this year’s event. The caption read: “This beauty, this icon! I’m so so happy I met her!!!! We spoke about our amazing Armenian journeys! And that Bob Mackie gown she wore to the Met 1974.”

Kim wasn’t alone in her style of clothing for the “Chinese Looking Glass” themed event. Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez both went with revealing sheer dresses, showing off their fabulous curves.

Who do you think inspired Kim Kardashian’s look for the 2015 Met Ball? Was Kanye in favor of Kim’s sultry look or did he think Beyoncé had the best dress of all time?
