Could skinny jeans be a thing of the past? One North Carolina school district hopes so. A North Carolina school district is considering banning the skinny jeans.

Wilmington area students, parents and at least one school board member are furious with New Hanover County School System’s proposed new dress code, which forbids leggings, skinny jeans and “any other excessively tight fitting pants.”

There is one caveat: Under the proposed rules, students could still wear their beloved slim-cut denim if a top or dress covers “the posterior in its entirety.”

The district came up with the revised code — developed after some “bigger girls” were being bullied because of their tight jeans, School Board Vice Chairwoman Jeannette Nichols — earlier this month, and invited students to weigh in on social media.

Hard to see how they will determine what is a skinny jeans, but we will see how this one plays out.
