On Monday, former rap music mogul Marion “Suge” Knight, sued R&B singer Chris Brown and popular Los Angeles nightclub, 1OAK, after being shot seven times at a 2014 VMA Pre-Party hosted by Brown. Knight is suing the famous R&B singer and popular nightclub for failing to have adequate security and allowing at least one armed person inside of the venue during the party.

After the shooting Knight suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen, chest and left forearm. The co-founder of Death Row Records suffered from some major complications, including a blood clot and a court appearance for a murder case that was unrelated to this shooting.

Knight’s attorney said that he was in such fear months after the shooting, that it lead to him shooting two men and killing one of them after being attacked in his car. Knight is now awaiting trial for this case.

The lawsuit does not state how much Knight is suing for but it does say that he wants Brown and the club owners to pay for his past and future medical bills from the shooting.

The e-mails sent to Brown’s attorney and 1OAK did not receive an immediate response Monday.

The lawsuit says that 1OAK should have taken special security precautions because Brown is known for violence erupting at his parties and also accuses Brown of having “gang ties”.

The lawsuit states “As a result of the negligence of the defendants, one or more unknown individuals were allowed access to the event with weapons, including firearms”. It also said “As a foreseeable result, gunshots were fired by those admitted into the event and (Knight) was shot and seriously injured.”

Although Brown is known for his violent outbursts, does Knight really have a case here?
