A New York City woman claims that she and her daughter visited a local Popeyes restaurant and received fried rat instead of chicken recently.

She said that the location at 145th street and Frederick Douglass Blvd. served the meal to her niece, sister and daughter, who reportedly was taken to an urgent care sometime afterwards because of diarrhea and vomiting.

Even though the restaurant received an A on their sanitation grade earlier this year, previous reports indicate that there has been “evidence of mice or live mice present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas.”

Popeyes’ corporate spokeswoman Renee Krapowski told the Daily News that the franchise owner had contacted the Department of Health and that a subsequent inspection found nothing that would change its rating from an A.

Popeye’s supplier told the company that the mystery morsel is likely a chicken organ rather than a rat, Krapowski said, though she added that it would be sent to a third-party for DNA testing.

Check your chicken folks… Check. Your. Chicken.
