A plane that had been carrying the Brazilian soccer team of Chapecoense has crashed in Columbia, killing 76 of the 81 people on board. The plane was carrying 22 players, as well as 28 other team personnel, and the identities of the five survivors is not yet confirmed. The team was founded in 1973 and although not well known outside of Brazil, moved up to a higher division two years ago. The team was set to play in a major game after the arrival in Columbia, but the South American Football Confederation has suspended its activities at the moment.
