TV mogul Shonda Rhimes is leaving the ABC television network and heading to Netflix. She has received a multi-year production deal to bring her company Shondaland over to the streaming service. This will end Shonda’s 15-year relationship with ABC studios that created hits like “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Scandal”, and How To Get Away With Murder.

Rhimes will continue to work on her current ABC shows while they air.

No word yet on how much money Rhimes will make for taking the big jump to Netflix, but she was earning about $10 million a year under her previous deal with ABC. Netflix will be paying her a substantial amount more according to sources.

Rhimes’ deal with ABC will expire in 2018.
