On Friday, Feburary 2nd, PBS will be premiering a concert film of Nas and The National Symphony Orchestra performing “Illmatic,” live. The film was recorded back in march 2014, during the 20th anniversary of the album. It will explore the legendary rapper’s Queen’s, NY upbringing, musical background, and his over all career. In addition, the film will also feature his journey leading up to the performance, held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

In the film’s trailer Nas says, “It’s crazy, you know, I wrote this in the projects in New York City. Here we are in the Capital of America, Washington, DC, and you know, a bunch of white people with strings and all that, playing this album, and they feeling it.”

The documentary airs on PBS, February 2nd, at 9 p.m. Will you all be tuning in, Live Squad?
