Thursday, officials announced that the city of Atlanta is under a cyber attack and urge residents to check financial records if they have any accounts with the city. Keisha Lance Bottoms, the newly elected mayor of Atlanta, revealed that they are unsure if the attack is solely on employees of the city or resident, as well.
Bottoms said, “We don’t know the extent so we ask that you be vigilant.” According to the official Twitter of the city, #ATL “is currently experiencing outages on various customer facing applications, including some that customers may use to pay bills or access court-related information.”
Full details have not been revealed, however it has been reported that there is a ransom associated with this attack. However, The Federal Bureau of investigation is investigating this attack, along with The Department of Homeland Security.
