The CIAA Tournament will be leaving Charlotte, North Carolina in 2021 according to the Board of Directors Tournament Sub-Committee. The group announced on Monday that they have formally launched the bidding process in hopes of finding the next city to host the annual men’s and women’s college basketball tournament.
Since 2006 CIAA has held court in The Queen City, and has been one of the biggest events in the country year after year. In 2018, over 140,000 fans came to Charlotte during the week of the tournament and pumped about $50.5 million into the city’s economy
Prospective cities can begin bidding for the rights to host the tournament now and an announcement will be made in December as to what city will land the prize and everything that comes with it.
