ESPN President Jimmy Pitaro stated during an interview that the National Anthem is generally not broadcasted and there’s no reason to change it this year. He also stated that ESPN is not a political organization, but will cover the intersection of sports and politics.

The first Monday night broadcast of the 2018-19 season is September 10th, as a double-header with the Detroit Lions hosting the New York Jets, and the Los Angeles Rams vs the Oakland Raiders.
