As the holiday season approaches, the FBI has issued a warning about scams to watch out for while shopping and preparing for the festivities. Here are the top three scams to be aware of:

  1. Fake Websites

Scammers are creating fake websites that mimic your favorite retailers to steal your card information. Before making a purchase, double-check the website’s URL to ensure it’s legitimate. If a deal seems too good to be true, it likely is.

  2. Social Media Sales

Be cautious of items being sold on social media platforms. For example, if someone is offering a PS5 for $300, think twice before sending money. Scammers often prey on people looking for a good deal.

  3. Fake Package Tracking Links

Many are receiving fake text messages claiming to provide tracking updates for deliveries. Avoid clicking on suspicious links and instead track packages directly through the official delivery service’s website.

By staying alert and cautious, you can protect yourself from holiday scams and enjoy the season safely.
