Aaron Rodgers says playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers in what could be the final chapter of his NFL career isn’t about ego — it’s about peace.

The 41-year-old quarterback and four-time MVP spoke to reporters Tuesday during the first day of the Steelers’ mandatory minicamp, addressing why he chose to return for a 21st season and why he felt drawn to Pittsburgh.

“A lot of decisions that I’ve made over my career and life from strictly the ego, even if they turn out well, are always unfulfilling,” Rodgers said. “But the decisions made from the soul are usually pretty fulfilling. So this was a decision that was best for my soul.”

Rodgers, who has earned nearly every accolade the game can offer — including a Super Bowl title and likely Hall of Fame induction — made it clear that this season is about more than football. It’s about giving back to the game, savoring the moment, and finding peace as he nears the end of a storied career.
