LSU basketball star Flau’jae Johnson recently revealed that her once-close friendship with fellow teammate and national champion Angel Reese has come to an end.

During an interview on The Breakfast Club on Monday, June 9, Johnson confirmed the two are no longer friends, despite winning the 2023 NCAA championship together.

“We’re not friends,” Johnson admitted. “But I mean, like, that bond that we had, and that thing we did together, win the national championship, you can never take that away from us.”

The duo once appeared inseparable on and off the court as they helped lead LSU to victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes. However, the friendship reportedly began to fray after their mothers exchanged words on social media.

“It was a lot of media, it was a lot of locker room stuff, you know what I’m saying?” Johnson said during the interview. “Sometimes, like, stuff happens. You wish it don’t happen, but it do. And you just gotta grow.”

Still, despite the fallout, Johnson made it clear there’s no bad blood on her end and she continues to uplift Reese from afar.

“I support her in everything she do,” she said. “I be on social media clowning the folks that be trying to talk down on her. I’m just proud of her, but like, you know, stuff happens.”

While their friendship may have faded, the legacy they built together on the court will remain a lasting chapter in LSU history.
