Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl

The nominations for the 2025 Emmy Awards were announced Tuesday afternoon, with nominations for several notable music artists who have been making big waves this year.

Hip-Hop mogul Kendrick Lamar was recognized for his Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, receiving four Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Music Direction and Choreography (Variety/Reality), and more. Lamar also shares nominations with executive producers Jay-Z, among others.

In 2022, Lamar, along with Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and Eminem won an Emmy for the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show for Outstanding Variety Special (Live), according to the Television Academy.

Superstar Beyoncé could be receiving her first Emmy Award with several nominations for the 2024 NFL Christmas Day Halftime Show, “Beyoncé Bowl” on Netflix. Her nominations include Outstanding Variety Special (Live) and Outstanding Music Direction, where she’ll go head-to-head with Lamar, along with Questlove for his directorial contribution to “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.”

Questlove is nominated for three Emmy Awards, including a nomination for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special for “Sly Lives!

Beyoncé, one of the most awarded artists in Grammy history, has been nominated for several Emmys previously, including four for her visual album “Lemonade” in 2016. In 2019, she received nominations for her Netflix documentary “Homecoming,” including Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Outstanding Music Direction, among others.

Doechii’s music performance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, choreographed by Robbie Blue, was also nominated for the 2025 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography (Variety/Reality).
