Over 25 Cars Broken Into at Raleigh Churches

More than 25 cars were broken into this past weekend at five different church locations in Raleigh, prompting police to warn residents to secure their vehicles, even while worshipping.
Among the targeted locations was Highland United Methodist Church, where Rev. Kevin Quick said the break-ins happened during their Sunday morning youth celebration service.
“We were having our worship service celebrating our youth at 10 this past Sunday, and two cars that were at completely different ends of the parking lot were broken into,” Quick said. “There’s oftentimes like this where, you know, it seems senseless and in a way, it kind of is.”
According to Raleigh Police, the suspects smashed windows or accessed unlocked vehicles, grabbing everything from firearms and credit cards to $2,000 in cash.
“They weren’t spending a lot of time in the vehicles,” RPD said. “But the damage was already done.”
Investigators believe two people may be responsible and are currently searching for a suspect seen in a black Infiniti sedan.
Police are urging everyone to lock their car doors and never leave valuables behind, even during church services.
