RoyalTea’s Calming Tea for Minority Mental Health Awareness Month

July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to spotlight the unique mental health challenges faced by Black and brown communities. And while therapy, community, and open conversation are essential, so is something that often gets overlooked: simple, intentional self-care.
For many Black women, that healing space starts in the kitchen. Whether it’s Grandma’s Sunday dinner or your own personal tea blend, food and herbs have always been a part of how we take care of ourselves and each other.
If you’ve been feeling anxious or overwhelmed, try this calming tea recipe you can make at home:
Royal Calming Tea Blend:
- 1 tsp dried chamomile (relieves tension)
- 1 tsp dried lavender (promotes relaxation)
- 1 tsp lemon balm (soothes anxiety)
- 1/2 tsp dried peppermint (for mood and digestion)
- Honey & lemon to taste
Steep in hot water for 5–7 minutes. Sip slowly. Breathe deep.
This isn’t a cure, but it’s a step and a reminder to pause and pour into yourself.
Celebrities like Taraji P. Henson, Summer Walker, and Megan Thee Stallion have opened up about their struggles with anxiety, depression, and trauma, helping break the stigma around mental health in our community. Their courage reminds us: we don’t have to be “strong” all the time.
So this month, give yourself permission to rest.
Your peace is powerful. Protect it.
