As summer heats up with concerts, festivals, and pop-up events, scammers are looking to profit from the excitement. With more people trying to score tickets to see their favorite artists or attend themed experiences, fraudulent websites and social media posts are being used to sell fake tickets or advertise events that don’t even exist.

Young adults are especially at risk. A recent report from eMarketer reveals that nearly three out of four people aged 18 to 29 plan to attend at least one live event this summer.

That high demand creates the perfect opportunity for scammers. Meredith Radford with the Better Business Bureau warns, “Double-check that you’re purchasing from the correct site. Scammers can create very convincing fake websites, so it’s important to verify the source. Buying directly from the venue or a well-known ticket seller is the safest bet.”
