If there was ever a day to cheat your diet, it’s today. July 28 is all about sweet, creamy indulgence because it’s National Milk Chocolate Day! Yes, it’s a real day.

Milk chocolate as we know it was created in 1875 when Daniel Peter blended chocolate liquor with powdered milk, a product developed by Henri Nestlé. Since then, it’s become a go-to ingredient in candy bars, baked goods, and all kinds of decadent desserts.

While it’s not the healthiest option (dark chocolate holds that crown), milk chocolate remains the fan favorite for its smooth, rich flavor. So go ahead and celebrate the day with your favorite milk chocolate snack and enjoy every bite!

Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

An easy summer treat that’s sweet, juicy, and perfect for National Milk Chocolate Day!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pint of fresh strawberries (washed and dried thoroughly)
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips or chopped milk chocolate
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or shortening (optional, for smoother melting)

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the milk chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring each time until smooth. Add coconut oil if using.
  3. Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.
  4. Place dipped strawberries on the parchment-lined sheet.
  5. Chill in the fridge for about 15–20 minutes or until the chocolate is set.

Enjoy immediately or store in the refrigerator for a cool, refreshing treat later!
