As we kick off another NFL season, Sunday (Sept. 8) brought a huge surprise with the announcement that GRAMMY-winning rapperĀ Kendrick Lamar is set to headline Apple Music’s Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans.

With the momentum that Kendrick has had lately with the success of “Not Like Us,” the news is not surprising. If his Juneteenth “Pop Out” show is any indication, he will definitely make halftime epic in NOLA.

It is also worth noting that K. Dot will have plenty of experience, as he will soon be one of the very few artists to perform a Super Bowl Halftime Show more than once. No pressure.

Scroll down to check out some other repeat Super Bowl Halftime performers below!

1. Kendrick Lamar – 2022 & 2025

Before his own headlining set in Super Bowl LIX, K. Dot had the honor of joining his mentor Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and 50 Cent during Super Bowl LVI in Inglewood.

2. Gloria Estefan – 1992, 1995 & 1999

Latin superstar Gloria Estefan is the first of only two artists who performed the halftime show three times. The first was with figure skaters Dorothy Hamill and Brian Boitano in 1992, followed by a more festive set with Miami Sound Machine in 1995. The final time was in a celebratory showing with Stevie Wonder, swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and tap dancer Savion Glover in 1999.Ā Ā

3. Stevie Wonder – 1994 & 1999

In addition to the show with Estefan in 1999, Motown legend Stevie Wonder previously performed in 1994. That year, he joined an all-star lineup of country artists including Clint Black, Lisa Hartman Black, Wynonna Judd, Travis Tritt and Tanya Tucker for a soul-stirring rendition of “Love Can Build A Bridge.”

4. Justin Timberlake – 2001, 2004 & 2018

Of course, no one can ever forget Justin Timberlake’s very infamous history with the Super Bowl, thanks to his “Nipplegate” performance with Janet Jackson in 2004. By then, he was a repeat performer, having hit the stage during his *NSYNC days in 2001. Timberlake officially joined Estefan in the “3rd timers club” with his headlining set in 2018.Ā

5. Nelly – 2001 & 2004

Along with Timberlake, Nelly was also a part of the 2001 and 2004 shows… although Nelly had a much smaller role. He had a verse during the 2001 show, which also featured Aerosmith and Britney Spears performing “Walk This Way.” In 2004, he also had an ensemble part, along with Diddy and Kid Rock…but of course, we don’t blame you if you don’t remember it.Ā

6. Mary J. Blige – 2001 & 2022

Yet another repeat performer from the 2001 show! Mary J. Blige accompanied Aerosmith and company for the “Walk This Way” finale before making history with her own set in 2022 with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and more. (Did we mention this was the first Halftime Show that won an Emmy?!)

7. Bruno Mars – 2014 & 2016

Bruno Mars first hit the Super Bowl stage with a very electrifying headlining performance in 2014, as his career was just getting hot. (Nice skills on the drums, sir.) Two years later, he decided to crash Coldplay’s headlining set during Super Bowl 50… but he didn’t do it alone.Ā

8. BeyoncĆ© – 2013 & 2016

Bruno’s co-conspirator in “Operation: Steal The Whole Damn Show From Coldplay” was Queen Bey herself, BeyoncĆ©. With an aura that is only rivaled by Michael Jackson, Bey debuted her hit, “Formation” and teamed up with Bruno and Coldplay for a little “Uptown Funk.” And that was AFTER she had her own headlining set (with a Destiny’s Child reunion, mind you) in 2013.Ā Ā

9. Usher – 2011 & 2024

And that brings us to this year’s headliner! Usher definitely rocked the house during Super Bowl LVIII with a plethora of his hits. Prior to that, he crashed the Black Eyed Peas’ headlining gig in 2011 to perform his Will.I.Am-produced hit, “OMG.” It was only right for Will to return the favor, appearing as one of Usher’s many special guests during his set.Ā
