The Vikings have decided to end Randy Moss’ brief second stint in Minnesota just weeks after they traded a third-round draft pick to the New England Patriots for the All-Pro receiver.

Vikings players said Monday that coach Brad Childress told them that Moss “is no longer with us” and Moss’ agent, Joel Segal, told the Star Tribune that Moss had been waived by the team.

“Randy is very sad to find out about being waived by the Vikings this morning,” Segal wrote in an e-mail to the Star Tribune. “He has and always will remain fond of the fans in Minnesota. We will let the process of the waiver wire take its course and we will move on from there.”

Linebacker Ben Leber told the Star Tribune that Childress didn’t give the team a reason for Moss’ ouster from Minnesota.
