Every listener who makes a song request of K97.5 disc jockey Brian Dawson knows all the lyrics of his or her favorite jam, he said.
“So if you know the lyrics to Lil Wayne’s record “6 foot 7,” there’s no excuse for you to not know what you’re doing in your math class or your English class,” he told an enthralled group of Performance Learning Center students.
Dawson, who grew up on Harvard Avenue, “right around the corner” from PLC, said he understands what the students there are going through.
“I’m just like y’all,” he said. “Sometimes when you see people that are successful, you start to feel like they’re from somewhere else, they don’t understand your struggle. I understand.”
