If you thought you smelled smoke in the Triangle, YOU DID!!! The Smoke from a wildfire in Dare and Hyde counties moved into the Triangle today.

Over 21,000 acres have burned in the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge since Thursday. The fire threatened three homes, and it forced officials to close U.S. Highway 264 between Stumpy Point and Engelhard in Hyde County. Luckily the wind is coming from the northeast and pushing the fire into its-self . Today Officials said it was about 40 percent contained.

The state Division of Air Quality issued an advisory for parts of eastern North Carolina for today and tomorrow because of the smoke plume.
