The rapper known as Lil Wayne and Universal Music Group were slapped Friday with a $15 million lawsuit in New York alleging the hit song “BedRock” infringes a copyright for a previously recorded song by the same name.
Georgia-based Done Deal Enterprises Inc. sued Lil Wayne — whose real name is Dwayne Carter — as well as UMG, Cash Money Records Inc. and Young Money Entertainment LLC. The plaintiff seeks to recover at least $15 million, and maybe more, in profits stemming from the alleged infringement.
