The Knicks have NY in a Frenzy because — well, they haven’t lost a game yet. With Lebron getting that no-championship monkey of his back, it looks like Melo is trying to do the same, but let’s analyze what is actually going on. Is this a Knick team actually worth cheering for, or the Knick team that will disappoint during mid season? After all neither Pat Ewing, Starks and Oak are not walking though those doors so true Knick fans expect to lose, i’m just saying.

5. Lots To Prove

Before we pop the champagne bottles and start all the talk about championships lets remember we are only 3 games into the 2012 – 2013 season. We all know how the current Knicks work, they win a couple … then lose a lot. They still have much to prove. Let’s remember: the last time a Knick team popped bottles it was the 1970s.

4. The Not-So Dynamic Duo

At the time of this writing — three games in — the Knicks are pretty much Carmelo Anthony’s team, Amare hasn’t seen the court yet (well, he’s seen it but hasn’t stepped foot on it yet). Since joining the Knicks, the duo has played 67 games together. And their record together: 28-39. Not impressive at all.

3. Age Is Actually A Number

The current Knick roster is filled with players in their mid- to late-30s. Making the average age of the team a laughable 33 years old. In NBA years that’s pretty old. Things look more depressing when your rookie is 35 years old. How many years does this guy plan to play in the NBA. Marcus Camby and Rasheed Wallace are pretty much collecting social security checks. And then acquiring Jason Kidd instead of keeping Jeremy Lin … By mid season most of these senior citizens will tank out. The Knicks sure know how to pick ‘em.

2. The Heat Own The East

They play in the east. Sure, they recently beat the Miami Heat, but that was one game . As long as the Knicks play in the east  against Lebron and co. they don’t have a chance. Sure, the Knicks have a decent starting 5 and bench but the Heat are stacked. The Heat might be still in the midst of celebrating last year’s championship win, and in the process the Knicks stole a win.

1. How Many Playoff Wins, Now?

They won one playoff game in the last 10 years, you don’t really think they can win it all after last season do you? The Knicks will probably make the playoffs but with teams like Miami, Philly, Boston and even Brooklyn, that 1 in 10 years will probably slip into the 2013 – 2014 season, becoming 1 in 11 …

What do you think? Should the Knicks start chilling their champagne?
