NC State Freshman guard Rodney Purvis will transfer from N.C. State. Purvis, residing from Raleigh, averaged 8.3 points and 2.4 rebounds this season and started 23 games. He is the ninth player to transfer from the program since the end of the 2009-10 season. Rodney started 23 of the first 25 games and then in mid-February, freshman T.J. Warren took Purvis’ spot in the starting lineup before an 84-66 home win over Florida State on Feb. 19. His minutes were also reduced as a reserve. He averaged 17.9 minutes in the final 10 games of the season, compared to 28.6 over the first 25 games. It’s unlikely N.C. State will release Purvis to another conference school due to Louisville joining the ACC in 2015.
