BlackCelibacy.com is the new go-to dating sight for singles who are waiting on their worthy life partner. Founder Jeremy Billingsley talked about the inspiration behind his new venture in a recent interview with ESSENCE.com.

ESSENCE.COM: How did BlackCelibacy.com come to be?

JEREMY BILLINGSLEY: One Sunday I was in church and the pastor was preaching about love and fornication and he was really trying to direct the sermon to the singles there, and I though to myself, outside of the church there really aren’t that many places where celibate singles can go that embraces that lifestyle and meet others on the same accord as them. When like-minded singles can get together you’re going to get better results.

ESSENCE.COM: Who is it for?

BILLINGSLEY: BlackCelibacy.com is for anyone who is celibate or considering celibacy. And it’s for those looking to meet others with the same values. We’re growing now. There aren’t just Black people on there. We actually have people of all races on the site.

ESSENCE.COM: How does it differ from other Christian dating sites?

BILLINGSLEY: We are a faith-based site but our mission is celibacy.

ESSENCE.COM: What do you want others to know about the site?

BILLINGSLEY: It’s for anyone. With our site, you can actually meet celibate single in your area with the same moral values as you. We promote those relationships and you can actually meet new friends on there as well. We just want to bring those people together in a positive way.

“We wanted to make sure that this relationship was what God wanted for our lives. [In order to know] if we are meant to be together, we said, ‘It’s got to be God’s way and not our way.’ We didn’t want to half-step anything,” she said. “So our right way was the way we felt God wanted us to do it, which was being celibate. We said to God, ‘This is who we are, I know you take us as we are, our faults, our fears, our joys, our hope as a couple and have your way.’”

“It’s not that we had no intimacy, we just didn’t have complete intimacy. It’s just me, and my feelings. I definitely don’t want to push it on anybody else. “It made our whole relationship be about us and getting to know each other,” Good said of her now-husband DeVon Franklin. “One of the things I noticed right off the bat is I had more clarity, I had more self worth, I had more peace of mind and I just was a lot more relaxed and sure of myself.”
