A Raleigh man who was the victim of a hit-and-run crash early Sunday was in serious condition at WakeMed with a fractured neck, according to troopers who said they are trying to find the other driver.

Jimmy Lee Brown, 49, was driving a Geo Prism about 65 mph on Interstate 40 East near Harrison Avenue when a silver Lexus going more than 90 mph crashed into the back of him, causing Brown’s car to spin and hit the median guard rail, authorities said.

Both vehicles came to rest about 580 feet down the road, east of where the collision happened.

The driver of the Lexus fled the scene before troopers could get there, and authorities said they believe someone picked up the driver. Troopers don’t have an ID or description of the driver. However, they have registration from the vehicle. Charges are pending.
