Taking a page out of Target‘s book, online retailer, Amazon, has decided not to carry physical copies of Beyoncé‘s 5th self-titled album. Amazon, like Target, is upset that Beyonce decided to release her album exclusively to iTunes during its first week of release, but will carry the album in MP3 format.

While Amazon didn’t release a scorching statement like Target, a quick check on their website and label sources have confirmed the limited availability according to Billboard.

Opinion:

Honestly, there’s no use in crying over spilled milk; these retailers still have the opportunity to make lots of money off of Bey’s latest album due to the demand this holiday season. Many shoppers, such as myself, prefer a tangible, physical copies of CD’s, and they are hurting no one but themselves by acting like children because they didn’t get first dibs. Not a smart business move.

Beyoncé would be a great stocking stuffer – and that is where retailers will always have an advantage over iTunes, and other online digital or streaming sources, such as Pandora or Spotify.

We saw the week Target is having after refusing to carry Beyoncé’s album, so Amazon better tighten up their online security…. wouldn’t want another breach revealing customer credit card information….
