Daley-1

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to link up with UK soul singer, Daley, after he gave an amazing performance at The Pour House. Originally from Manchester, the singer/ songwriter/ pianist rose to fame in 2010 after gaining recognition by playing small venues and local clubs in London. This led to a collaboration with the Gorillaz on their top forty hit, ‘Doncamatic.’

After performing the song live on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, Daley gained industry acclaim and was nominated for BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll and ended up being signed to Polydor records, in the UK, and Universal Republic Records, in the US.

In 2011, he released his first mixtape, Those Who Wait, which in addition to the title track, featured original material including the Marsha Ambrosius featured ‘Alone Together,’ and covers including Maxwell’s ‘Pretty Wings.’

After Those Who Wait came an official EP release, Alone Together, which included some material from the aforementioned mixtape, and a few new tracks. Then came another 3-track mixtape, Songs That Remind Me of You (in 2013,) and most recently his debut album, Days & Nights, which hit stores on February 11th.

During the ten minute chat, Daley and I discussed how he got his start, the meaning behind Days & Nights, working with Jessie J, the differences between UK and US audiences and more. Daley also gave his thoughts on whether or not social media is beneficial to an artist in 2014.

The interview is full of revealing information and tons of laughs! Check it out!

Post interview thoughts:

Daley is a very cool, down-to-earth and humble person. He was very personable and he even let me touch his hair!! It’s iconic!
