Producer Chauncey Mahan has been accused of extortion by rapper Jay-Z. These accusations arise after a large amount of Jay-Z’s master recordings were found in Mahan’s Northridge, CA storage unit this past Friday. These master recording are said to have disappeared back in 2002 from Roc a Fella Records and are worth between 15-20 million dollars.

Mahan contacted Live Nation, who has a joint endeavor with Jay-Z (Roc Nation), on Friday and proposed that he either receive a $100k storage fee or he would auction the tapes off. He and Live Nation agreed upon a $75k settlement.

When Mahan arrived at the storage unit to meet for the money, he was greeted by the LAPD. He was apprehended and agreed to come to the station for questioning. He was not arrested but the issue of extortion is being investigated by the LAPD. Jay-Z, also known as Sean Carter, has also filed a grand larceny complaint with the NYPD.
