Yesterday, a woman in High Point, NC, died after posting to Facebook about how Pharrell‘s “Happy” made her “Happy.” Courtney Ann Sanford‘s car then crossed a median and crashed into an oncoming truck.
Sanford updated her Facebook at 8:33, and the accident was reported at 8:34, so investigators have cited her use of social media while driving as the cause of the crash.
The High Point Police Department also show that, according to her online history, Sanford was also taking frequent selfies as she drove down the highway. Investigators said that speed, alcohol, nor drugs, caused the accident, it was related to her losing focus, while posting to social media.
