Fox’s new hit TV show, Empire, has already received the green light for a second season after only 2 episodes. The hip-hop drama starring Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard has been met with great ratings and reviews since its premiere January 7th.

Empire had this season’s highest-rated series debut among adults 18-49 after How To Get Away with Murder. In its second week, 10.3 million viewers tuned in to the show, which had a 4.0 rating among adults 18-49, up 5% from the debut.

Reports have said that renewals this early in the season rarely happen and even more rare, the ratings increased on the second episode. Ratings normally always drop the second week of a new show.
