Big Sean’s “Blessings” includes a rhyme about his wealth that represents where he is financially right now. “The crew look like we robbed a bank, but all we make is deposits.” But life wasn’t always this wonderful for Sean. Recently, the Dark Sky Paradise emcee shared some of his early struggles with Larry King.

“I was at McDonald’s, paying with change out of my pocket,” Sean recalls. “There was times where I was spending my last $40 on studio sessions, times where my parents didn’t have money for clothes, new this and new that. I had to go out and figure that out on my own.”

King, a New York native, also said he won’t forget where he comes from. “Never forget it,” he said. “I loved Brooklyn but Brooklyn never loved me.”

When King asked Sean if success has changed him, Sean was quick to respond. “Hell nah,” he said. “Maybe it changed me for the better. I’m not the same person I was. I’m a better version of the old me.”

Watch the interview segments here, where Sean reveals whether he’s thinking about marrying his girlfriend Ariana Grande or not.
