Yesterday, thousands gathered in D.C. for the 20th Anniversary of the Million Man March. Organized once more by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, the theme was “Justice or Else” in the face of police brutality against minorities.
The original march was held on October 16, 1995, and was mostly composed of black men and called for them to improve on themselves, strive for better and take responsibility. Yesterday’s march focused on a more broad range of topics including mass incarceration of minorities, self-respect, poverty, abortion, and social economical issues, and saw more women and children.
