Over the weekend, comedic legend, Eddie Murphy, received the highest honor a comedian can receive – the Mark Twain Prize presented by the Kennedy Performing Arts Center.

Chris Rock, George Lopez, Arsenio Hall, Dave Chapelle, Kathy Griffin and Tracy Morgan paid tribute to the comedian, and Morgan even called Murphy his, “comedic hero.”

“He’s the reason I’m in comedy. He’s the reason I have a job. He’s the reason I have a career.”

Murphy joked about receiving a “prize” that didn’t come with a monetary reward, and even joked about Bill Cosby having previously received the award.

“Actually, it’s an award, but they call it a prize. Usually when there’s a prize, there’s money.”

In referring to Cosby, Murphy joked that you know you’ve messed up “when they want you to give your trophy back.”

“Bill has one of these. Did you all make him give it back?” he asked, as quoted by the Washington Post, before performing an impersonation of Cosby refusing to give back his award.
