Johnny Gill has been singing since the age of five. His solo was jump started when singer and close friend Stacy Lattisaw brought him into the business. His career officially began in 1983 with the Top 30 R&B single “Super Love.” The two later recorded two hit singles “Perfect Combination” and “Where Do We Go From Here.” In 1988, Gill joined New Edition, replacing Bobby Brown. His association with New Edition helped grow his solo career. In 1990, Gill released his self-titled album Johnny Gill. The album sold a million copies, topped the R&B chart and made the Top Ten on the pop chart.

Gill’s last release, Game Changer, featured the hit “Behind Closed Doors.”
