The Philadelphia 76ers gave been awarded the 1st overall selection of the 2016 NBA Draft after the draft lottery. The Los Angeles Lakers have been awarded the 2nd overall selection, while the Boston Celtics have the 3rd overall selection. The 76ers, who went into the lottery with the best odds for the first time in their rebuild, finally can rejoice. They will select either Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram- likely Simmons – 1st overall next month. Whichever of the two that isn’t selected will presumably be selected by the Lakers. The Celtics have the 3rd overall pick through the Brooklyn Nets, one of the three 1st round picks that Brooklyn traded for a year of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.
