At this point, it’s no secret that cable television knows the power of black viewership.

When the Lifetime Network aired Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart it drew in 3.6 million total viewers. A+E Networks’ four-night Roots reboot logged 4.2 million viewers in simulcast across History, A&E, and Lifetime, against stiff sports competition. And VH1’s CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story was cable’s highest rated original movie Of 2013.

Tapping into our demographic means creating content that’s #BlackTwitter digestible, which is why we’re seeing so many biopics based around treasured talent.

Rumored to be next on the biopic list is the story of DeVante Swing, Mr. Dalvin, K-Ci and JoJo —better known as Jodeci.

As reported by Vibe, VH1 has been mum on the film, but we’re sure fans are ready for an accurate depiction of the group: The North Carolina-Virginia collective came into fruition in the 90’s and helped define the sound of modern R&B with their debut album, Forever My Lady. The group also saw success with the singles, “Come and Talk to Me,” “Stay” and “Forever My Lady.” After the release of three albums, personal toils took over the group. K-Ci and JoJo went on to find success as duo, but the group reunited in 2014 and released The Past, The Present, The Future in 2015. In June, Dalvin fueled rumors of a VH1 biopic on Twitter.

VH1 has yet to make a statement regarding the rumored film, but if it does happen, we’re anxious to see who is casted in the roles!

Either way, keep this on your radar.
