Chance the Rapper has his hands involved in a lot of positive things these days. The Chicago native recently began speaking out about and supporting Chicago’s public school system when the news broke that they were experiencing some financial troubles.

A group of local fans are now asking Chance to try his hand in politics.

Fans have launched a new campaign entitled Chano4Mayor2k19, along with an accompany website and Twitter account, that aims to convince the Chicago rapper to run for mayor of the city in 2019, when Rahm Emmanuel is up for re-election.

“Hey Chance, We think you’d be a great mayor.” the website reads. “You represent Chicago on the world stage, and you do us proud.” The creators of the site also point to Chance’s community work, his Open Mike events for high school students, and his recent donations to CPS.

This would be a good look for Hip Hop. I think Chance should do it.

It seems like the group took inspiration for the campaign from Chance’s own words: On his 2015 track “Somewhere in Paradise,” he rapped, “They screamin’, ‘Chano for mayor,’ I’m thinkin’ maybe I should.”
