After only a year off the air, it looks as though American Idol is returning to television in 2018 — but on a different network. ABC has scored the rights to American Idol from producers FremantleMedia and Core Media Group, after Fox failed to stop the deal. It will air on Sundays.
Longtime host and media mogul, Ryan Seacrest, is in talks to rejoin the show, although his new job on Live with Kelly! is based in New York and Idol is based on L.A.
