On Tuesday,a close was finally brought to the long and tragic case of the Charleston shooting that took place during a bible study at Emanuel AME Church. The shooting, carried out by Dylann Roof, left a total of 12 victims with 9 being fatal. Information revealed that the attack was planned and the shooter intentionally picked the church to gain more attention. Jurors deliberated for 2 hours before reaching a unanimous decision to sentence the convicted shooter to the death penalty.
Roof has asked for the judge to appoint a new defense team in hopes of filing for a retrial. However, the Senator of South Carolina, Tim Scott, release a statment on twitter thanking the jury for their service and saying Roof was “rightly sentenced to death.”
