Yesterday the NAACP Image Awards released their nominees for this year and it has us all excited! This years show will be hosted by Black-ish star, Anthony Anderson, and is said to be filled with a few surprises! One of the most anticipated categories each year is Entertainer of The Year, and this year they gave us every bit of what we wanted. The nominees include our favorites like Jay-z, Issa Rae, Chance the Rapper, and Bruno Mars!
The nominations don’t leave out our favorite shows and movies, and we know there were some good ones this year! Of course, Get Out, Girls Trip, Marshall, and Detroit are battling it out in most of the movie categories, but no one expected for Idris Elba and Tessa Thompson’s roles in Thor: Ragnarok to shake things up by being nominated!
On the tv side of things, Insecure, Ballers, Dear White People, and Survivor’s Remorse came in and racked up some nominations. Even though Empire didn’t get nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, they did pretty much dominate the drama categories.
There are definitely some good nominees in each category. So we will all be in front of our television screens watching the live broadcast on MLK Day- January 15th in case you forgot- at 9pm! Now the only question is, Live Squad who are you all routing for? And trying to be like Issa by “routing for everyone black” won’t work this time. Drop a comment and let me know!
