Jay-Z sat down with T Magazine for a intimate conversation where he opened up about how his album came about and his relationships with both Beyonce and Kanye West.
The Iconic rapper explains the roots of his infidelity stemmed from the attitude he acquired while being raised in the streets, saying “You have to survive.” He then went on to say, “So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode, what happens? You shut down all emotions. So even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect…In my case, like, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity.”

Jay-Z says that both him and Bey treated music as therapy. He explained that neither of them ever sat down together to listen to their albums, but it was uncomfortable for both of them and the works of art caused them to have deep conversations.
Jay did, however, let us know that there is a joint album that the two of them worked on. He says, “We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together,” He doesn’t reveal if we will ever get to hear the project or not.
During the interview he also talks about the rough relationship he is having with Kanye, who reportedly  left Tidal of money issues. He says, “I [talked] to Kanye the other, day just to tell him, like, he’s my brother.” He goes on to say, “I love Kanye. i do. It’s a complicated relationship with us.” Hopefully the two will be able to work thing out in the near future!
